Schematic overview of the school bus routes to ESRM

New route from January. Register now!

Hanau, Maintal and Niederdorfelden: register your child for the Main Kinzig Express Line now. Every registration helps us plan the route around families’ needs.

The children travel together. You can skip your own school run and plan your morning differently.

For Primary and Secondary

School’s out. Well looked after. A relaxed journey home.

Is your child in Primary?

Until the bus departs, your child can enjoy Childminding: with supervised care or afternoon activities. This turns the time before departure into another enjoyable part of the afternoon. Playing, meeting friends or trying something new: sounds better than “When are we finally leaving?”, doesn’t it?

To use the Childminding service, you need a package of hours. This must be booked separately from the school bus and is not included in the bus fare.

View Childminding options

The older children are on board too.

The school bus is also available to Secondary pupils. A little more independence for the older children and one less trip on the parent taxi rota. Both routes therefore depart from ESRM at these times:

Monday to Thursday16:15
Friday14:30

While the older children are still in lessons, Primary pupils can enjoy their time at Childminding. An afternoon that works for both.

Routes & stops

New route from January. Registering is worthwhile!

We are now accepting registrations for the Main Kinzig Express Line. Frankfurt and Taunus are already running: join the waiting list for these routes. With sufficient demand, we can provide additional places at short notice.

Main Kinzig Express Line: Your seat for a more relaxed school run.

From January, we will travel to ESRM together. Register your child now so we can assess demand early and plan the new service accordingly.

  1. Hanau Wilhelmsbad: Park and Ride
  2. Maintal: Maintalhalle
  3. Niederdorfelden: Norma car park
  4. Europäische Schule RheinMain, Bad Vilbel

This is the route currently planned. The route and stops may still be adjusted. We will share the exact journey times and launch details in good time.

A little reality check, with a smile: We will do everything we can to make the journey as pleasant as possible. However, we will probably still need to allow for the morning traffic into Bad Vilbel. Our bus can do many things, but unfortunately it cannot fly over the cars in front of it just yet. At least you won’t have to be behind the wheel yourself.

Register for the Main Kinzig Express Line now

Frankfurt & Taunus: Join the waiting list instead of waiting around.

Both existing routes are already running. Even if there are currently no places available: Add your child to the waiting list! We can increase capacity at short notice if enough families would like to use the service.

The sooner we know what you need, the better we can plan. Registering is worthwhile. After all, the parent taxi service deserves to hope for a little relief too.

Our school bus uses BatOnRoute

Where is the bus? Just check the app.

We use BatOnRoute for live tracking and to manage our bus routes. For you, this means a clearer overview. For us, it means managing routes and passengers in one place. And the question “Is the bus here yet?” finally gets a better answer than “It should be here any minute”.

Track the bus live

In the parent app, you can see your bus’s current location while the journey is in progress. Live tracking ends when the journey finishes.

Report absences easily

Is your child not taking the bus on a particular day? Please record the absence in the app so the bus team knows who to expect that day.

Keep track of the routes

We use BatOnRoute to manage our bus routes and their passengers centrally. This helps with the daily coordination and organisation of journeys.

BatOnRoute made simple

Our short explainer video will appear here: how to access the app, track the bus live and report absences.

We will send you your login details separately. If you do not have access, please contact ES Childminding.

€192 a month. More time for you.

Less driving. More time for life.

Fuel and wear and tear are only part of the calculation. There is also your time. And there are better ways to spend it than memorising the bumper in front of you. Our example calculation for one child shows both separately, based on 185 school days and a total of 40 km of driving per school day.

Your school bus seat

€192

per month, in 12 monthly instalments

€2,304 per school year
Bus fare per child. A Childminding package of hours is extra if required.

More time for your morning. For a coffee that is still warm, for example.

Your benefits at a glance

€9,025.40

calculated annual benefit, including the assumed value of your time.

€752.12

calculated monthly benefit, spread over twelve months and including the value of your time.

185 hours

of your own driving time per school year in our example. Around 23 eight-hour working days, which you can surely spend more enjoyably than behind the wheel.

Comparison: €11,329.40 for the car, including the value of your time, versus €2,304 in annual bus fares. Travel to the bus stop and additional childcare still need to be taken into account.

How the car example breaks down
Item Per year
Fuel: 7,400 km × 7 l / 100 km × €2.30 / l €1,191.40
Wear & maintenance: 7,400 km × €0.12 / km €888.00
Vehicle costs excluding the value of your time €2,079.40
Driving time: 185 days × 1 hour × €50 €9,250.00
Total car cost including the value of your time €11,329.40
School bus: 12 × €192 €2,304.00

Excluding the value of your time: Fuel and wear and tear amount to €2,079.40 per year. In this example, the bus costs €224.60 more per year, or around €18.72 per month. The large calculated benefit comes from the value of your time, rather than an equivalent saving in your bank account.

Assumptions and individual differences

Less driving. More time for life.

For our example calculation, we assume 20 km each way, a total of 40 km per school day. Over 185 school days, that adds up to 7,400 km a year. We also assume fuel consumption of 7 litres per 100 km, €2.30 per litre and €0.12 per kilometre for wear and maintenance. These are example figures, not a live feed from the nearest petrol station.

And then there is your time: we assume one hour a day and a personal time value of €50 per hour. Whether you use that hour to work, exercise or enjoy a coffee while it is actually still warm is entirely up to you. This does not automatically mean more money in your bank account. But no one can take away the valuable time you gain by not sitting in traffic.

We have kept the total at 40 km per day. If you drive 40 km in the morning and another 40 km in the afternoon, that adds up to 80 km, and you can adjust the calculation accordingly. We have also left out insurance, vehicle tax, financing and depreciation. And, of course, the occasional sigh at a red light.

Every family’s daily routine is different: you still need to consider travel to the bus stop and any additional Childminding costs. Siblings, car sharing or a school that is already on your commute also change the comparison. You know best what your time is worth. We can probably agree that there are nicer places to be than rush-hour traffic.

Questions & planning

Everything you need to know at a glance.

Are the buses already running?

Yes. Frankfurt and Taunus are already running. We are accepting waiting list registrations for both routes. With sufficient demand, we can increase capacity at short notice.

Which routes are available?

The Frankfurt Express Line currently runs via Bockenheimer Warte and Theodor-Storm-Straße, and the Taunus Express Line via Oberursel, Bad Homburg and Riedberg Annette-Kolb-Weg. The additional Main Kinzig Express Line is planned to start in January 2027.

How often does the bus run?

The two active routes operate five days a week during regular term time.

Is there a return journey?

Yes. Both return journeys depart from ESRM at 16:15 from Monday to Thursday and at 14:30 on Fridays. They then serve their respective stops in reverse order.

How much does a place cost?

€192 per month, charged over 12 months from September to August.

Where will the new Main Kinzig Express Line stop?

The planned start is January 2027: Hanau Wilhelmsbad Park and Ride, Maintalhalle in Maintal, the Norma car park in Niederdorfelden and ESRM. The route and stops may still be adjusted. Register your child now so we can take your needs into account.

What does my Primary child do until the bus departs?

Childminding offers time for supervised care, friends and afternoon activities. There is no need to put boredom on the timetable. You will need an additional package of hours, which is not included in the bus fare.

Why does the bus only depart at 16:15 or 14:30?

Secondary pupils should also be able to use the school bus. Both routes therefore depart at 16:15 from Monday to Thursday and at 14:30 on Fridays.
